Activity Recommendations

A small group (2 – 3 children) supervised by an adult.

What You'll Need
  • Paper and markers to make signs and flyers
  • Lemonade
  • Cups and ice
  • Container for money
  • Table, plastic tablecloth, and chairs
What To Do
  1. Work with your child to come up with a team (e.g., siblings or friends).
  2. Assign jobs to each child. They can take turns doing different ones if they like.
  3. Gather all your materials.
  4. Tell your friends and family about the lemonade stand and pass out flyers.
  5. Serve lemonade for a fee.
  6. Working together can be even more gratifying if the children raise money for something they care about, like pet adoption.
Discussion Questions
  • Why didn’t Notto want to show the other children his baby blanket? How did he feel? How did he let his friends know how he felt?
  • When Notto gets to be part of the team that fixes the Lemonator, he turns his frown upside down and into a smile. Ask the children to describe how he feels. At the end of the story, is Notto still embarrassed about having a baby blanket?
